Bringing Chris's Coffee & Custard Home to Roanoke County
and Restoring the Historic Starkey School
This relocation is not just a strategic move; it is a personal journey back to where Chris Woodrum, the namesake of Chris’s Coffee & Custard, grew up—just a stone’s throw from the Starkey School. Chris, who has spent his entire life in Roanoke County, embodies the spirit of community that we cherish.
We were offered the opportunity to purchase the historic Starkey School, knowing that we would preserve the historical significance of the building while supporting a legacy of inclusion, training, and community engagement.
Our 2024 Phase1 Capital Campaign raised the finances to purchase the building May 2025.
Imagine a place where the community can come together not only to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and
custard but to appreciate a beautifully preserved piece of local history. This project offers a dual benefit: saving a
significant historical building and enhancing the lives of young people with special abilities. By investing in this
campaign, you are supporting a legacy of inclusion, training, and community engagement.
