Bringing Chris's Coffee & Custard Home to Roanoke County and Restoring the Historic Starkey School

This relocation is not just a strategic move; it is a personal journey back to where Chris Woodrum, the namesake of Chris’s Coffee & Custard, grew up—just a stone’s throw from the Starkey School. Chris, who has spent his entire life in Roanoke County, embodies the spirit of community that we cherish.
We were offered the opportunity to purchase the historic Starkey School, knowing that we would preserve the historical significance of the building while supporting a legacy of inclusion, training, and community engagement.
Our 2024 Phase1 Capital Campaign raised the finances to purchase the building May 2025.
Imagine a place where the community can come together not only to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and custard but to appreciate a beautifully preserved piece of local history. This project offers a dual benefit: saving a significant historical building and enhancing the lives of young people with special abilities. By investing in this campaign, you are supporting a legacy of inclusion, training, and community engagement.
THANK YOU! LovABLE Services Inc. training programs and Chris's Coffee & Custard would not be possible without our many community donors and sponsors! We are so grateful for all our founding donors, brick donors, customers, sponsors, and all our community who have come along side us to train and support our young adults with special abilities. Our current Capital Campaign is Raise 1 for Chris to help us purchase and renovate our new location, the historic Starkey School.

Pave the Way Leave a Legacy
Chris invites you to help us reach our goal of 500 bricks!
We have two large areas in front of the shop for a brick walkway. By purchasing a brick, you can be a part of fulfilling dreams!
Money raised will provide scholarships for young adults to participate in the LovABLE SERVICES training program. Every brick tells a story! We would love to share yours! Whether you have supported Chris’s Coffee & Custard from the beginning or are a new part of our family, leave your legacy by:
• Honoring your child/children (In honor of...)
• Dedicating a brick to a special teacher or co-worker (With gratitude...)
• Remember a loved one (In Memory of...)
• Showcase your business/organization name
• Highlight an influential person in your life
• Celebrate an anniversary or important date
• Share a favorite quote or special message
• Or for any occasion!
